Changing Branches Can Create Opportunities at Kloeckner

On November 1^st, Regional Management Trainee Rebecca Tran moved to her fourth Kloeckner location in less than three years. After starting out in Oklahoma, she was relocated to New Orleans, and then to Dallas. She left the Dallas branch to head to the corporate office in Atlanta, where she hopes to gain new insights into Kloeckner Metals.

By the time a person reaches high school, many have already considered a career path they may want to take once school is finished. While some may consider careers in medicine, teaching, construction or even the hospitality industry, many may overlook a career in welding. Welding however, can be a lucrative career to think about, especially for those that may want to find a wide array of job opportunities or those who like to travel.                                                                           

J. Paul Javier, Strategic Sourcing, Architectural Sales, and Innovations for Kloeckner LAX, recently returned from his stay in Berlin for the KCI Digital Experience, and he has learned a lot. The program had him living in Berlin for a month and a half, as well as working in Atlanta. He spent a lot of time working with the marketing team, developers, and product managers. The experience was a great opportunity for him to learn new ways of doing business, and see how to approach problems from different angles.

“It was a wealth of information,” Paul says. “I’m sure my managers will attest to this. You are thinking innovatively.”

For 25 years Jonathan Gregory has been working at American Fabricators, Inc. (AFI). He started out in the plant as the second shift brake department lead man and has since worked his way up to Operations Manager. The philosophy of leading by example is a core part of the AFI workplace, and it is a big reason that many of the managers have “been there, done that.”

It isn’t enough to just sell quality products; you have to deliver them promptly and safely. For this reason, Kloeckner Metals Corporation is always looking for great truck drivers to add to the team. The national fleet is actually composed of several regional fleets, augmented by common carriers. These fleets work together to create a logistics network that spans the country and beyond.

A welding career at one of Kloeckner Metals’ many branches can offer rewarding challenges and opportunities above and beyond repetitive mill work. Kloeckner Metals York’s welding team consists of Jeff Jones, Cain Adamson, and Charlie Gardner who were gracious enough to share some of their first-hand experiences. One thing that makes welding work at Kloeckner unique is the one-off orders that come in. With these orders, the team has to work through the process and figure out the best way to go about the work.

Kloeckner Metals offers a multitude of sales careers at the many branch locations across the United States and beyond. Brian Clare is a sales manager in the Alpharetta Branch office who has been with Kloeckner for 14 years. He started out as a territory manager in Florida, and then in 2008 he accepted a promotion to sales manager and moved up to Georgia. Brian particularly enjoys the level of autonomy that the branch offices are given.

Being a global company, Kloeckner provides many opportunities for its employees to travel the world as part of their job. One such opportunity is being pursued by J. Paul Javier, who was recently chosen to participate in a project that will see him spending time in Germany. The project is the KCI Digital Experience, which designs digital tools and services for the metals industry.
