As winners  of the Prime Advantage Innovation Awards, Kloeckner Metals continues to improve and expand its Part Manger tool for ordering steel online. The tool has been expanded to serve more groups, and new features have been added to better serve customers. A tool which started as a small pilot program has now grown to serve a variety of different contract customer groups. The new consignment feature further expands the reach of the product.

Kloeckner Wins Prime Advantage Most Prepared Endorsed Supplier Award

At the recent Prime Advantage spring conference, Kloeckner Metals was awarded the Most Prepared Endorsed Supplier Award. The award is voted on by Prime customers that attended the conference.  Individual meetings are set with suppliers over a two-day span and at the end of the conference, the customers submit their vote on which supplier was the most prepared or most compelling presentations.

Veterans at Kloeckner

This week, in preparation for Memorial Day, Kloeckner Metals is going to be showcasing some of its employees who served in the military in order to honor and recognize their service. Whenever a position opens up, Kloeckner has a policy of reaching out to veterans. In Georgia, for example, Kloeckner works with organizations such as Hero 2 Hired, Fort McPherson VA Campus, Vietnam Veterans of America, Hire Heroes USA, Veterans of Foreign Wars Department, and American Legion.

For 25 years Jonathan Gregory has been working at American Fabricators, Inc. (AFI). He started out in the plant as the second shift brake department lead man and has since worked his way up to Operations Manager. Retired with Kloeckner: John Hall

Underneath a moose, a few deer, and several other hunting trophies, John Hall finished his career with Kloeckner in an office just 300 feet from where he started 52 years prior. In 1965, John had just graduated from a local business college when he started working as a service clerk for Edgcomb Steel of New England in Nashua, New Hampshire. His responsibilities included delivering the mail, distributing documents, and keeping the paper supplies stocked. After a few other jobs in inventory management, he managed to make the jump to sales.

Retired with Kloeckner: Jack Delaney

This past December, Jack Delaney retired after 51 years with Kloeckner Metals. Staying with a company for that long is rare, especially these days when many people will end up at seven or eight different companies throughout their life. Jack attributes some of the reason for staying with Kloeckner all these years as a little bit of luck and always having opportunities within the company.
