The Tampa, Florida, branch of the Kloeckner Metals Heavy Carbon Group recently recognized driver Hank Rogacki for his excellent record. Hank marked 25.6 years of citation-free and accident-free driving with a Career Achievement Safety Award.

Employee Spotlight: Bing Han and PVD

Bing Han’s doctorate in material science and engineering is going to come in handy when she visits China this year. Bing is in charge of the technical side of the Kloeckner PVD effort and is also the liaison between Kloeckner and partner Double Stone China. This role will see her traveling to visit Double Stone to inspect new PVD machines before they are shipped to the Kloeckner Cincinnati branch.

Customer Spotlight: MD Barnmaster

Kloeckner Metals partner MD Barnmaster recently completed a horse stabling project in, Norco, California, for a major entertainment company. It will house a variety of horses, including Percherons, Belgians, Brabants, Shires, and Clydesdales. The main building is a huge raised center aisle barn with 20 stalls, grooming areas, tack & feed storage areas, and bathrooms. The facility utilized wood-grain embossing supplied by Kloeckner. Like 40% of MD Barnmaster projects, this facility was custom designed and manufactured to suit the needs of the customer.

Guillermo Gonzalez Receives Career Achievement Safety Award

He believes that as a millennial, he is adept at picking up new technologies quickly and learning as he goes.

The Doggie Bag Newsletter Shares Safety Stories In Chicago

The newsletter features safety related stories from employees and reinforces safety lessons from the program. It is the brainchild of Mike Hoekstra and James Traut, who are also in charge of teaching the Safe Start Program in Chicago.

Careers at Kloeckner: J. Paul Javier Returns From The KCI Digital Experience

J. Paul Javier, Strategic Sourcing, Architectural Sales, and Innovations for Kloeckner LAX, recently returned from his stay in Berlin for the KCI Digital Experience, and he has learned a lot. The program had him living in Berlin for a month and a half, as well as working in Atlanta. He spent a lot of time working with the marketing team, developers, and product managers. The experience was a great opportunity for him to learn new ways of doing business, and see how to approach problems from different angles.

“It was a wealth of information,” Paul says. “I’m sure my managers will attest to this. You are thinking innovatively.”

Customer Spotlight: Shade Structures

Kloeckner Metals Corporation (KMC) partner Shade Structures (formerly USA Shade) recently completed a shade structure for the US Pickleball Championship. Pickleball is a sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis on a small court. The open air arena needed some shade to protect fans and participants from the hot Naples, Florida sun. The steel used in the structure came from none other than Kloeckner.
