Adam Terrinoni is a millennial who has just started his career with Kloeckner Metals after graduating from LaGrange College this past May. As a staff accountant, Adam hopes to utilize his abilities and unique skill set to improve the Kloeckner team. He has been asked to hit the ground running, and one of the toughest challenges he has faced so far has been learning all of the new software he is using. He believes that as a millennial, he is adept at picking up new technologies quickly and learning as he goes.

The Doggie Bag Newsletter Shares Safety Stories In Chicago

As part of the Safe Start Program, the Kloeckner Metals Chicago office has created a monthly newsletter called The Doggie Bag to really drive home the point. The newsletter features safety related stories from employees and reinforces safety lessons from the program. It is the brainchild of Mike Hoekstra and James Traut, who are also in charge of teaching the Safe Start Program in Chicago.

Careers at Kloeckner: J. Paul Javier Returns From The KCI Digital Experience

J. Paul Javier, Strategic Sourcing, Architectural Sales, and Innovations for Kloeckner LAX, recently returned from his stay in Berlin for the KCI Digital Experience, and he has learned a lot. The program had him living in Berlin for a month and a half, as well as working in Atlanta. He spent a lot of time working with the marketing team, developers, and product managers. The experience was a great opportunity for him to learn new ways of doing business, and see how to approach problems from different angles.

“It was a wealth of information,” Paul says. “I’m sure my managers will attest to this. You are thinking innovatively.”

Customer Spotlight: Shade Structures

Kloeckner Metals Corporation (KMC) partner Shade Structures (formerly USA Shade) recently completed a shade structure for the US Pickleball Championship. Pickleball is a sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis on a small court. The open air arena needed some shade to protect fans and participants from the hot Naples, Florida sun. The steel used in the structure came from none other than Kloeckner.

Kloeckner Wins Prime Advantage Most Prepared Endorsed Supplier Award

At the recent Prime Advantage spring conference, Kloeckner Metals was awarded the Most Prepared Endorsed Supplier Award. The award is voted on by Prime customers that attended the conference.  Individual meetings are set with suppliers over a two-day span and at the end of the conference, the customers submit their vote on which supplier was the most prepared or most compelling presentations.

Veterans at Kloeckner

This week, in preparation for Memorial Day, Kloeckner Metals is going to be showcasing some of its employees who served in the military in order to honor and recognize their service. Whenever a position opens up, Kloeckner has a policy of reaching out to veterans. In Georgia, for example, Kloeckner works with organizations such as Hero 2 Hired, Fort McPherson VA Campus, Vietnam Veterans of America, Hire Heroes USA, Veterans of Foreign Wars Department, and American Legion.

Careers at Kloeckner: American Fabricators, Inc.

For 25 years Jonathan Gregory has been working at American Fabricators, Inc. (AFI). He started out in the plant as the second shift brake department lead man and has since worked his way up to Operations Manager. The philosophy of leading by example is a core part of the AFI workplace, and it is a big reason that many of the managers have “been there, done that.”
